8 Days
Myanmar
(Yangon - Bagan - Mt. Popa - Bagan - Mandalay - Amarapura - Sagaing -
Mandalay - Mingun - Mandalay - Heho - Kaung Dine - Inle Lake - Heho -
Yangon)
DAY 1: YANGON
"MINGALAR BA" - "have an auspicious day" - are the
first words which you will hear from your local tour guide. Among the
many interesting places in the Golden City, the magical Shwedagon
Pagoda will be on top of your sightseeing list!
DAY 2: YANGON
- BAGAN
Paradise for early morning birds! 7 a.m. flight to Bagan which will
bring you back into the 11th century! 1,000 pagodas in the morning,
1,000 pagodas in the afternoon... Ananda, Shwezigon, Thatbinnyu, and,
and, and.... No time for lacquerware shopping? Of course you have it -
shop till you drop!
DAY 3: BAGAN
- MT.
POPA - BAGAN
Myanmar's people say: "Here's a nat, there is a nat, everywhere
are nats nats!"
DAY 4: BAGAN
- MANDALAY
- AMARAPURA - SAGAING - MANDALAY
8.40 a.m. flight to
the city of the last kings of Myanmar. Breathe the unpolluted air on
the wooden U Bein Bridge in Amarapura and visit the famous hand
weavers: How exiting to watch the skill of the threads being tied!
Continue to Sagaing Hills: "From the hills which are studded with
white and golden pagodas, from the hills looking lazy at the Irrawaddy
River, a girl is sitting near the river, I know she is thinking of
me." Maybe from the Son Oo Ponyashin Pagoda you may see Kipling's
girl - for sure you will have the most breathtaking views of Mandalay
and the Ayeyarwaddy River!
DAY 5: MANDALAY
- MINGUN - MANDALAY
Have a one hour's boat ride on the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River and make
merit by striking the largest ringing bell in the world - the
"Mingun Bell". Back to Mandalay, the most famous pagoda -
the Mahamuni Pagoda, 'The World's Largest Book' - as well as the
Kuthodaw Pagoda and sunset on Mandalay Hill will make you wish to
spend another wonderful day in Mandalay.
DAY 6: MANDALAY
- HEHO - NYAUNG SHWE - INLE LAKE
Air Mandalay will take you to Shan State - some call it "Switzerland
of Myanmar" (?). Don't forget your sun lotion! In a long-tailed
Sampa on the Inle Lake, rimmed by blue mountains, you will see that
life here still follows ancient, traditional patterns. Floating
gardens, one leg-rowers, villages on stilts and, all around, the
Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, wonderful monasteries, and the reflection of the
cotton wool clouds - that's just magic!
DAY 7: INLE
LAKE - HEHO - YANGON
At 10.20 a.m. Yangon Air will bring you back to the 21th century.
Enough time for wandering around the Bogyoke Market and finding some
souvenirs for the unlucky ones who could not join your wonderful trip!
DAY 8: YANGON/ Departure
Day
Sad but true, you are about to return to
everyday life,i.e. fly back to Bangkok and say good-bye to Myanmar.
